Hi there and thanks for visiting.
This is my Gringomad blog, a not-so-clever mashup of the words Gringo and Nomad. Kinda just makes me sound like an angry white guy in Cancun, right?
Well, the truth is, I was angry at the time I left the United States in December of 2022. I had grown tired of watching my country inch further and further to the right. Even the only socially acceptable “liberal” party had morphed into little more than a diet version of the conservative party.
I left because I felt like things were only going to get worse (more conservative) - and I guess I wasn’t wrong. The liberal party president arming and funding a genocide was wild. And now Trump 2.0 is making everyone batshit crazy, understandably so.
For the past two years I’ve hopped from one South American country to another every 90 days (the length of a tourist visa) - and it has been as incredible as it has been exhausting. I have focused mainly on five countries - Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, and Peru - and I’ve got a lot to share about these experiences.
So that’s the purpose for this blog.
To talk about my experiences in the travel life, with a bit of politics tossed in.
I would appreciate it if you’d subscribe to my channel and join me.
Thanks very much and until next time, here’s a video that shows the view from my first Brazilian Airbnb in the Copacabana neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
